More cleaning....

This little horsey has a story.  We bought it for Jacob many years ago.  (Obviously, since he's now having a baby of his own!)  He loved his horsey!  When he was too old for it, I asked him if he'd like to give it to his cousin, who was really the perfect age for it.  No way!  He wouldn't hear of it.  When he got about 10 or 12, he said he could give it away.  Well, by then all his cousins were too old for it!  So we've been hanging on to it for all these years!
It had just been sitting in the shed for about 10 years, and I wouldn't even bring it in the house until I hosed it down.  Then I scrubbed, and then scrubbed some more.  Now it looks great!

This was our splurge last night.  Even bought movie food!

Kelly clothes

Over the past few weeks I've been making little clothes for Barbie's little sister, Kelly.  The crochet clothes turn out better than the sewn clothes.  It's really difficult to work with such tiny pieces of material!

French snacking

John and I were given the challenge to incorporate some French food into a gathering of friends, in honor of Bastille Day (July 14th.).  So, this morning I made mousse, the real kind, not just pudding and whipped cream!  I wanted more than just a dessert, so I googled French snack recipes and decided on Cheese Puffs.  I did exchange the Gruyere cheese for regular Swiss cheese.  At $9 (on sale) per 8 oz. block, I decided it was a bit over my budget for a little snack!  I only used about 2-3 oz. of the Swiss cheese, but neither was available in less than 8 oz. blocks.

Since I'm serving the mousse tonight I actually haven't had a whole bowlful.  Licking the spatula was pretty good though.  The cheese puffs are quite yummy, but not sure that they are worth the effort very often.

Excited grandma to be

So, I'm very excited to be a grandma (baby boy due November 5th, I believe), and it shows.  I am also frugal.  And that shows.  So when I see a great deal on a baby item, I can hardly control myself!

I saw a yard sale a month ago and bought several Fisher Price toys.  So dang cute.  Saturday I saw a yard sale and bought a play-pen and a swing.  Now to just sanitize them!

Here John and I at the top of Puerto Rico!  We are in El Yunque Rain Forest, literally in a cloud.  It's the highest point in Puerto Rico.

Hello!

Hi!  My name is Rhonda.  I feel like a "normal" person, and thought it may be silly to have my own blog, but decided I'd give it a go!  So here goes!

A little about myself:  I'm a stay at home mom, whose 3 wonderful boys have all grown up, and so I guess that now makes me a stay at home wife, instead!

Besides keeping the household together, with clean clothes and yummy food, I love to crochet, cross-stitch and do genealogy.

My household now consists of myself, my wonderful husband, John, my 2 year old sun conure, Kiwi, and 3 six month old parakeets.

When I learn to post pictures, I'll let you see them!
